2015 in films ‘n’ stuff

2015 in films ‘n’ stuff

As for… probably the last 7 years, I remain largely not much of a blogger anymore. Every year that I’ve attended the London Film Festival, I mean to write about what I saw and…. never get round to it. Well. Here goes – a few words about all the new films I saw last year. At least I got into the practice of keeping a list of all the new films I saw over on Letterboxd and every time I added to it,…

London Film Festival 2014 – Part 1

London Film Festival 2014 – Part 1

It seems like every year I’ve gone to LFF I don’t actually really talk about it until weeks and weeks later. Such is life. Luckily I keep my Letterboxd account updated and that helps me to remember. I think the only thing I’m hazy on are a few of the shorts that I saw. Onwards. There’s going to be spoilers (probably). There’s… going to be more than one part to this report on LFF.

Closing Night Gala: Great Expectations (by BFIFestivals)

I was at the Closing Night Gala last year and while the film was good, the best thing for me was meeting and chatting to the lady next to me and hearing how she’d come from somewhere in France for the festival and how she did so every year.

The films are great yeah, but the lovely people I met throughout was the best.

I’ve worked out that it’s physically possible for me to see 24 out of the 28 films I’m interested in if money is no object.

Since money IS an object… it’s going to be more like 8 films. Maybe 9. I’m pretty excited still though – I sat next to or randomly met consistently lovely people at last years LFF.

YES.

I have tickets for everything. Well. Not everything. The 8 films I limited myself to:

  • Locke
  • Only Lovers Left Alive
  • Under the Skin
  • The Zero Theorem
  • Pioneer
  • Love Will Conquer All
  • Trap Street
  • Jodorowsky’s Dune

Admittedly, yes, it took 2 hrs due to BFI’s usual trouble with their phones and websites getting overwhelmed. Did get a chance to catch up on a bit of my downloaded radio though.
