It is absolutely a crime and a critical failing of Marvel that all the Asgardians have posters but neither Jane nor Darcy do.
Wait, there are posters of Sif and Frigga out there? And Heimdall? I MUST SEE THE SIF POSTER. SIF! (sorry Warriors Three, I just…don’t care about you as much).
Or is it just the ones of Thor, Loki, Malekith and Odin (and that one where Thor and Jane are together)? I mean, I don’t know how much Odin is in the film but he’s Anthony Hopkins, so there has to be a poster of him because Anthony Hopkins.
He’s like… the most widely-known famous person in the film, right?
As fond as I am of Darcy, I don’t think there’s going to be any posters of her. She’s just not a main character.
However, with about a month and a half until the film comes out in the UK, I’m guessing that they’re staggering the poster releases and trailer releases like they usually do and that there’ll be a Jane poster out and maybe a Sif & Warriors Three poster or a Frigga poster. I get the idea from the trailer that Jane is involved in a lot of key scenes in the film so…yeah.
The poster with Thor has to come out first, because he’s who the film is about and Malekith poster came out so we know who he’s up against (did the Thor & Jane one come out then? I don’t remember). Then we get the Odin poster (because Hopkins) and the Loki poster (because everyone loves Loki and his Loki-ness). As a marketing strategy, it makes sense to use Hopkins and Hiddleston to keep interest going in the film and to reinforce that in a couple of weeks or so with posters of Jane and…some other poster because after Hopkins, Natalie Portman is the next most famous person in the film. I mean. She was in STAR WARS and… a whole lot of other things (like Leon and Black Swan and and and) but STAR WARS.
We might get a Heimdall poster, because Idris Elba’s pretty popular. I don’t know.
But yeah. That’s why there’s no posters of Jane or Darcy at the moment. Darcy, as important as she is in our hearts, is probably not enough of a central character to warrant her own poster (she has a chance at a poster with Erik maybe, but I will write a stern blog post if Erik & Darcy are shoved on a poster with Jane). According to the Thor 2 website, there are 51 days* until the film is out. There is like… an almost certain chance of there being a Jane poster. It’s just doesn’t make sense for Marvel to release all of the posters at once, for there to be loads of buzz when those posters drop and then nothing to keep it going for two months.
TL;DR: There is going to be a Jane poster at some point. There will probably not ever be a Darcy poster.
(N.B. OF COURSE, I might just be incredibly optimistic about Marvel’s marketing strategy for Thor)
*…although that will be for the US release date right? SORRY GUYS. Make that 44 days for the UK release.
RIGHT. I have only just noticed this BUT am I reading too much into the side of the bus behind Dr Foster that says “MORAL SACRIFICE”?
Is this a regular advert on buses that I’ve just not seen around or is this a special sekrit Thor-related message?

I like how in this gif, Sif steps forward in fear that Loki’s about to attack Jane. Please, Marvel, I beg of you, let the movie be like the trailer and let there be absolutely no cattiness between the women.
(basically I just want all the scenes with Sif and Jane being buddies even though one’s all SCIENCE and the other is LET ME PUNCH THINGS and hey, this could be a bonding experience that shows Sif that Jane’s more than just an egghead, and Sif’s all NEW FRIEND and immediately is like, LET’S GO HUNTING and Jane is all wait, no, I don’t like killing things but Sif has already gotten her an outfit and a horse and they’re on the royal hunt and JANE IS REALLY CONFUSED but of course they end up bonding because they get attacked by something and Jane uses cleverness and science to outwit it so Sif can kill it and they walk back to the main palace with their arms slung over each other grinning and bloody with the kill draped over the back of Sif’s horse and when Thor asks what they got up to in alarm Sif only replies SCIENCE IS FUN and they walk past him cackling together)
