We wanted Mila Kunis’s character, Jupiter, to be the most complex in the movie. We didn’t want another action movie where the woman ends up being just an armpiece for the man. We wanted to make the man into her armpiece! “The Wizard of Oz” was a big reference. I thought, How great it is that Dorothy has Toto, he’s always at her side, defending her? We wanted Jupiter to have a protector like Toto.’

“I’m feeling a little over-dressed.”
I have massive respect for the fact that JA actually highlighted this as an issue. It used a light touch, but it made a point of showing that Jupiter is categorically NOT okay with being dressed like a fashion doll while unconscious.
And Caine’s ‘what?’ reaction suggests to me that it’s perfectly normal for entitleds to be dressed by others (whether conscious or unconscious) in this world. That’s backed up by the scene where Kalique is dressed, since she is entirely passive – she literally stands there and chats as her servants see to every aspect of her dress and presentation.saint-olga had a great alternative intepretation to add: “I interpret Caine’s reaction in this scene differently – I actually never thought about it in terms of Caine’s knowledge about the practices of the Entitleds. I read it as more “What did I do? Would you prefer me NOT to dress you?” He only dressed Jupiter while she was unconscious because leaving her in the paper robe would be worse. In this scene, both are teasing each other a bit (adorable!), but Caine is also a bit confused because he isn’t quite sure that Jupiter is just reasing and not actually going to hit him with a rolled paper.”
Jupiter and Caine going up in the world. This felt like a truly magical moment to me when I first viewed the film in the cinema; it’s a beautiful shot.
