Re-read this recently. Even better than I remembered.

Phonogram basically took all the music from my childhood* and spacked it into a story where messing with the past affects your present.

* I was like… 10 when The Holy Bible was released and didn’t sit down and listen to any Manics until the day of all of my friends’ art practical exam (because obviously I have always been a scientist so I got that day off school to sit at home and listen to the entirely of the Manics back-catalogue on cassette on repeat for the first time ever). The rest of it did actually get TV airplay and I heard – back then I didn’t listen to the radio, I just overdosed on the Chart Show and Top of the Pops and Live and Kicking and TFI Friday and any TV that had music.
