Dating someone can literally just be some fun for a short period of time for the both of you. It can just be something you both need for a few months then end.
Long relationships or relationships that aim to last are not automaticall better.

while I agree in principle the existential terror that you’re going to die alone does kick in around age 30
This is v interesting cos I have always just assumed I was going to die alone nbd y’know. Like who is going to be with me? It’s likely that I’ll outlive my mum and I’m an only child and 95% of my family live in other countries so…that rules out blood relations chillin’ with me while I shuffle off the mortal coil. And since I’m into men and women on average live longer, SHOULD I eventually marry or whatever…my partner would probably also already be dead by the time I get there. A lot of my friends live in other countries too.
I GUESS if I was in hospital or a nursing home or something then there might be nurses? But nurses are pretty busy so…
