Being Asian, I have naturally acquired this skill in telling other Asians apart. Filipinos are probably the easiest since if you ever come across an Asian that’s a bit darker and has a Spanish sounding last name and could also possibly pass for a Mexican or Hawaiian then that’s your clue right there.
Can’t say this has ever been a problem for me. Asian people all look different, have different accents and have different idiosyncrasies.
The other reason it’s not a problem is that I don’t tend to go Asian-spotting.
What does bug me is when people ask me what I am, as if I’m some kind of exotic fruit.
