I started looking into the lands around ancient Greece, Scythia and Thrace. There were some countries, all in the same sort of area, which had women leaders, women rulers and – this was most interesting – women warriors, so we did a lot of research looking at their clothes.
We decided early on that the women would have as much of their bodies on view as the men would’ve in that same period – Greek men wore breast plates with their arms bare, with shin guards and helmets. There is hardly any reference to women’s armour through history, but it did exist and it did follow the form of the body, often made of leather with gold plates – looking at those artefacts was quite inspiring. We knew the legs were going to be exposed, so we didn’t want to have the breasts on view: why wear armour if so much of your body is vulnerable? We wanted to allude without revealing, not taking an underwear-as-outerwear path.

OKAY BUT HEAR ME OUT
I’m Czech. I’m 21. I learned cursive in 1st grade, switched to a weird hybrid when I was about 13. I drive stick shift. I trust stick shift. I’d be lost without that kind of control over my car.
And let’s be real, Americans can get confused by other countries not having the same stuff. So like… We could confuse an entire self-centric generation of Americans by not even flinching. And teaching others to handle the irrational change.
Just imagine the confusion!
I already know Latin and am up for learning how to ride a horse, let’s do it.
And like today I learnt that there are FOURTEEN Land Before Time films altogether apparently and I know I’ve seen the first 4 but like, I watched that first one and it SLEW ME. I WAS SLAIN to the extent that I don’t even remember what happens in the other ones I saw.
Like this is a film I saw one time about 30 years ago and I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO WATCH IT SINCE
