[ Spock walks into the bridge in vulcan robes. ]
[ Kirk looks shocked and stands up, “Spock!” ]
[ Spock looks down at Kirk expressionless. Kirk repeats “Spock.” ]
[ Spock works at the science station and says “I’ve been monitoring your communications with Starfleet command, Captain.” ]
[ Kirk smiles gently as Spock continues, “I am aware of your engine design difficulties.” ]
[ Spock turns back to Kirk, “I offer my services as science officer.” ]
[ Kirk watches Spock, “Mr Chekov, log Mr Spock’s Starfleet commission reactivated, list him as science officer. Both effective immediately.” ]
[ Spock walks out and pauses in the doorway without turning around when Kirk says, “Mr Spock? Welcome aboard.” ]
